  1. Interesting test there. Normally I shudder at the thought of doing another one but this one actually has some research and foundations behind it. Here’s my results and I have to agree 100% with them.

    Socialiser: 14

  2. Heh! Kinda proves the point as to why we started this blog together – very similar play style & attitude, our top 3 are more or less identical… and we both don’t strongly dislike anything in games. Nutters!

I am a bit of a puzzle freak and like points in games that require some thinking about how to get through it or defeating something. Not sure though how I only got a survivor score or 1!!! Must be crap at that bit!! (but I disagree!)

  4. Hehehe, if that’s the “ups” I think it is, I am not at all surprised you came out with very similar results to me. 🙂

The ‘survivor’ bit is about enjoying ‘frighten the player’ types of games where you have to run away from things to survive mainly. If you actually enjoy that kind of experience (I don’t much, hence I only scored 4 in Survivor myself), then the score there sounds pretty accurate. It’s not about survival in games ie: not dying! 😛

According to this, my ideal game is what the modern Sonic the Hedgehog games should be..

    Or perhaps Mirrors Edge..
    Hah.

I’m surprised at the low “socialiser” score, as I didn’t give any particularly negative answers to any of the multiplayer questions.

And I think my low “survivor” score and the whole “no fear” thing is due to my answers being affected by my opinions on existing “horror” games (and how 99% of them are fundamentally fucking broken) rather than any like or dislike of being scared in games as a whole.

Oh, and I’m a control freak? what a surprise.

    Interesting test all round though.

  6. Interesting results Marc! Yeah I also suspect my low score on the fear thing is simply because no games scare me.. and the whole “run away” thing tends not to work too well in games at all IMO. There’s been numerous times when I was =supposed= to run away from something in a game, but me being me, I kept shooting and attacking and trying to kill it until eventually I figured out there was no way to beat it, and you had to run away. This usually annoys me!
